Sometimes things don't exactly go the way you are intending...but then they turn out just fine. That was the case on Saturday night in Bellingham where complications befell upon the vibraphone. It was, lets say....Kaput!! This put Das into a position to perform without perhaps our most characteristic instrument. With the assistance of local stud John Meloy, we charted off into some old skool grooves of yore. I guess they weren't ancient, but it was pretty fun as it always is to jump into old material you haven't played in a while. Geoff was a delight to play with, as he stepped into bizarre rhythms and haunting melodies.
The initial approach to the nights music was to be pretty free...which for the most part it was, but when John and Josh team up...you can't avoid the crushing spaz-funk these two wield together. I was having a blast to say the least.
That being said...I still miss my vibes, and am looking forward to Saturday night at the Triple Door.
